2 days /1 night Kampala – Entebbe community experience

Day 1: At your arrival in Uganda or after you do your Uganda safari, you will arrive in your Kampala or Entebbe accommodation this evening.

Day 2: From your accommodation, after breakfast, you will head to Lutembe community. depending on your prevoius night (Entebbe or Kampala)you will branch off east, towards lake Victoria from Entebbe-Kampala highway.  on arrival, you will be met by a local community member and guide to take you through a half day bird watching wonders. After the bird watching, and a traditional dance in the evening time. After the traditional dance, you will connect to the airport to catch your flight or return to the hotel to start your trip plans to the rest of the country or doing more community experiences in Kampala, Jinja or Entebbe.

Bird watching at Lutembe Wetland : Approximately 340 bird species both migratory and resident to the Lutembe wetland are found here, including Black Heron, Pied Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher, African Jacana and Long-tailed Cormorant and Crested Crane (Grey Crowned Crane). Between October and January swarms of migratory birds cover the wetland. It is a Ramsar site and one of Uganda’s Important Bird Areas (IBA). While on the water you can spot over 50 bird species. It is the most popular birding sites around the Lake Victoria.

Lutembe community Traditional dance: The group performs the local Kiganda dance from the central part of Uganda. It is a rich mixture of local songs and performances mainly related to fishing traditions and wetland conservation. A practice of this community. The women and men in brightly colored traditional costumes dance vigorously to the drum-set percussion twisting their waists like they have no bones. Sometimes, you may enjoy scenes of a sky filled with thousands of White-winged Black Terns flying away (in November) as you enjoy the cultural music. Lutembe cultural dance show is done by the local fishing community resident in the area. The group is made up of over 20 women and men mainly youth.
