Buhoma Community Rest Camp is located in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park gate, Buhoma. Set inside the Bwindi forest, this pleasant and well-kept complex provides accommodation and a restaurant which overlooks the forest canopy. We have a well-stocked bar just for your relaxing stay while in Bwindi. Buhoma Community Rest Camp is an excellent base for Gorilla tracking. The accommodation is just before the entrance of Bwindi National Park and occasionally the Gorillas visit the camp.

At the Buhoma community Rest Camp accommodation is provided in clean well maintained bandas, self-contained safari tents mounted on platforms that look into the Bwindi forest. All the accommodation has solar electric lighting installed as well as hot water showers. Five of the bandas have shared washing/toilet facilities whilst one unit is self-contained. There are several leveled terraces for those with their own equipment to camp. Cold beers and sodas are available with local produce used to provide visitors meals.

While you are in Bwindi or even after tracking you can do lots of other activities like go on the community village walk or do mountain biking inside and outside the Bwindi forest.

The camp is run by community members and profits are shared with the local community through assistance in funding community projects. At the moment we are employing a total of 90 at the camp, community primary school, community high school, gravity water flow scheme, vegetable project, community village walk to mention but a few.

Buhoma community rest camp is in partnership with local crafts women groups, Bwindi Progressive women’s group that has also subscribed to UCOTA for the supply of handicrafts. Some of the women work will be displayed at the campground or you can contact the camp to meet with them or buy some of their artifact. The money that you use to buy the crafts hear go a long way to support the local women meet their household basic need in the area.
