It is a community based residence that acts as an entry point to the rich cultural and natural heritage of eastern Uganda. the home can accommodate up to 8 people a night. The experience is inter-mingled with the archaeological features and nature. The home is tacked in a serene environment away from the hassles of the urban life, without compromising your comfort. The site has power, running water and a spacious compound for the visitors who wish to have space. the facility has a self catering kitchen but also with opportunities of being catered from by the members of the family.

For the visitors hoping to explore the eastern region of the country, this is the ideal base to trek, mingle and learn how the community goes on with their day to day life while you stay at the facility. Expro the Nyero Rock Paintings (UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to the Iron Age).   Archaeologically the site is of a Later Iron Age period. The Nyero Rock paintings site is a three tier rock shelters with primitive paintings on their inner surfaces. The makers of the paintings cannot be traced but the ingenuity in which they were painted demonstrates a high degree of appreciation of their aesthetic values. In the same region are other rock art sites which can be visited, “Mukongoro and Komuge Rock art sites”.

For bird watchers, Lakes Bisina/Opeta 35Km from Akalabai (Only home to Fox’s Weaver which is nearly threatened on the IUCN red list. Also home to the rare shoebill is a birders haven. You will be taken on boat trips by the trained local guides who will ensure your safety.
