Rwenzori Turacco view campsite is a fully community managed campsite situated in Kasese district. Named after a bird endemic to the region, the brightly-coloured Rwenzori Turaco, the campsite not only allows visitors exciting birding opportunities but also grants an experience of true cultural immersion, including an opportunity to be hosted by the community of Mihunga Village and feel the comfort of traditional accommodation as well as taste a variety of Ugandan cuisines.

The tiny village of Mihunga faces the craggy, snow-capped peaks of Rwenzori Mountains, known as the “Mountains of the Moon.” The Bakonzo tribe has lived here for over 300 years with no electricity or running water, and has adapted their way of life to the climate and steep green hillsides of the Rwenzori foothills.

Turaco View is the ideal place to embark on the natural and cultural adventure of a lifetime. Visitors are often able to spot one of these brightly coloured birds in the forest canopy, and Turaco View´s expert guides will be able to point out other species such as bee-eaters, sunbirds and even playful black and white colobus monkeys, while walking along the forests of the Rwenzori foothills.
