Rwenzori Escarpment View Guesthouse is a community-based tourism site at Karugutu within the Semliki Valley. Karagutu is a great base for exploring the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve, Semuliki National Park, or Rwenzori Mountains National Park. During the visit, you will be exposed to incredible ecological, geological and cultural diversity of the Albertine Rift including the lacustrine, montane, savannah, rainforest, and wetland habitats of the Albertine with a high number of endemic species, uniquely combining species of both Central and Eastern Africa. You will be participating in the scenic hikes outside of the protected areas. The tours can be done either by making a stopover in Karagutu or making it a destination in itself. For those who may want to spend a night, the guesthouse offers you traditional bandas, private rooms, or pitch your tent either on the lawn or in the cacao forest.

Daniel brings years of experience as an expert in the local landscape’s history, culture, flora, and fauna (especially birds!) by offering to introduce the landscapes and communities that lie at the crossroads of all of these parks in the Semliki Valley. Come and learn how in this community, many people directly depend on the provision of these ecosystems for subsistence and commercial agriculture, cattle-raising, and fishing. You will also learn how, Daniel works to bring the benefits of tourism directly to communities bordering protected areas for both the well-being of communities and biodiversity-rich protected areas.
